Freedom Foods Barley+ Range – 28 day reboot

Hey Everyone,

As many of you know, I am clearly focused on ensuring we all understand the benefits of consuming prebiotic fibers and resistant starches!

Truly believing that prebiotic fibers and resistant starches are the key player to both strong gut health and an abundance of anti-inflammatory related health benefits such as improved mood and the minimisation of lifestyle disease development;

It is with the greatest pleasure and pride that I share with you my latest official partnership with the wonderful Australian company, Freedom Foods, who have just launched their prebiotic fiber rich BARLEY+ range here in the USA!

For those of you whom have known me for the last decade, you may remember the first range of products containing BARLEYmax that I ever promoted- This new range is the revitalised version of them, meaning, I genuinely still love them till this day – and if you know someone who was a client of mine at my private practice all those years ago in Melbourne Australia, you would known BARLEYmax based products were always the top of my recommendation list!

The BARLEY+ range from Freedom Foods is the only product in North America to contain the BARLEYmax grain, which is a non-GMO naturally cross bred strain of barley which offers double the amount of dietary fiber than regular wholegrains, and specifically, has far more prebiotic soluble fiber and resistant starch than alternatives.

By having this combination of:

  • Insoluble dietary fiber (The type you typically find in high fiber bran based cereals)
  • Prebiotic soluble dietary fiber, as well as
  • Resistant starch

The Barley+ range actually provides benefits that are not able to be found in alternative cereals or grain based products, and specifically, offering both prebiotic fiber and resistant starch ensures the good bacteria in both the top end and far end of your gut are able to be nourished, and ultimately flourish!

Resistant starch has been shown to help keep us fuller for longer, regulate blood sugar levels, and feed the good bacteria in the gut, leading to an increase in the short chain fatty acid butyrate being produced, which has been linked to reducing the incidence of bowel cancer.

Once of my favourite perks of resistant starch is that it is able to provide you with an abundance of prebiotic benefits, but unlike many other fibrous ingredients that people often find causes bloating, these are amazingly often just associated with the benefits, minus the issues.

No matter what your goals are, be it weight management, energy enhancement, mood regulation or disease prevention, I couldn’t recommend increasing your resistant starch intake enough!

As part of my partnership with Freedom Foods I am going to be taking part in their 28 day reboot!

This will see me incorporate a bowl of their cereal for breakfast each day, as well as enjoying one of their snack bars in the afternoon.

Although I already eat a very high prebiotic fiber and resistant starch rich diet, I thought it would be really interesting to see if I am able to feel some of the benefits they have already found from previous participants, such as increased feelings of positivity and increased fullness / decreased hunger.

They also found many participants had improvements in their weight and waist circumferences, however as I am not someone who typically focuses on this, so wont be taking measurements in this instance.

With the BARLEY+ toasted muesli providing around 17g of dietary fiber, or which 7g is prebiotic soluble fiber, per serve, and with their Pink Lady Apple and Macadamia variety having less than a teaspoon of added sugar, I have no doubt I am going to feel thoroughly satiated.
