The Best Healthy Margarita Recipe

Hi everyone,

In the spirit of sharing with you all these incredible “food days”, it’s time to celebrate Margarita Day (we are a couple days late, but I thought this one just couldn’t be missed!)!

In honour of this occasion I have gathered up a list of diverse recipes that incorporate hints and flavours of this beverage.. and I promise, you are seriously going to be amazed at some of these recipes!

Originating from Mexico, a classic Margarita is made with tequila, triple sec, lime and salt. It goes perfectly in the summertime with a feast of Mexican cuisine! (Lets just say that my time spent in NYC, and my trip to Mexico late last year definitely saw me enjoying at least one or two of these classics)!

I’m known for always asking for the sugar syrup to be held when I order this drink, and I know in the States they often refer to this as a “skinny margarita”..so for those of you like me, I think you will be impressed by a couple of the options below.

I know as a nutrition expert I am not supposed to be advocating too many drinks, and in order to be the healthiest versions of ourselves, we know that it is important to adhere to dietary guidelines surrounding alcohol intake (which implies aiming to have no more than 2 standard drinks per day); However given we are all very aware of the negative health consequences associated with the over consumption of alcohol, and the amount of “empty calories” that are typically present in most cocktails served at a bar, I thought I would share with you some “healthier” versions that each have a unique twist, with most involving some form of fruit or vegetable!

These recipes don’t just stop at alcoholic beverages; I have managed to find a diverse range of delicious snacks and mocktails inspired by the zesty flavours of a Margarita so that they day can be enjoyed by all, regardless of age or dietary requirements.
